Technical advantages
Wooden cones & caps
Our concave wooden cones (phase-plug) in the center of the drivers optimize the off-axis-response of high frequencies (over 30° angle) through reflection, achieving a vivid, spatial, and engaging sound. The wooden cones, as well as the back covers, are individually handcrafted from recycled, and certified wood.
Drivers
For our MAPU Mono & Stereo speaker we use 4” full range drivers, getting the entire frequency audio spectrum with 30/45W power! and 80W IEC power handling.
For the MAPU 2.1 speaker we use two 3” mid/high drivers in combination with a 5¼” woofer to get a clear and powerful (60/105W) spatial stereo sound.
Wool, Cork & Leather
We use natural felted wool for the acoustic insulation of our speakers. Wool does not store static electricity and is non-flammable, thus protecting the speakers’ internal components. Unlike synthetic fibers, natural felted wool is biodegradable, and made without the use of harmful chemicals. Leather and cork have ideal physical properties for our insulation purposes, they are elastic and malleable, have high tensile strength and are inherently resistant to heat.
Vessel
After the firing process of over 1000°C, the clay becomes a very strong material with high density, which minimises natural oscillation. The spherical asymmetric shape of the cabinet avoids internal annulation (acoustic short circuit - typical problem in squared enclosures) and prevents unwanted resonances that could reduce audio quality. This highly advantageous shape is almost impossible to accomplish in wood. The only feasible would be high-density plastic or aluminum casting, both of which have a high environmental impact.
Electronics & connectivity
Our active Speakers are state of the art in electronics, equipped with Class D amplifiers, BT V5.0 Qualcomm aptX Codec & AAC, support A2DP V1, DSP (Digital Signal Processor) with SpeakerGuard™, providing a natural sound with very high dynamic range, minimal distortion and low noise output. They can be accessed and operated wirelessly from any BT device up to a distance of 20m or via AUX 3.5 mm mini-jack.
No dedicated control app is required.

Double Bass reflex
The new bi-ported enclosure design boost the volume of the low frequencies for a deep and powerful bass. Both cooper bass reflexes are acoustically engineered to minimize airflow noise and distortion, extending the low frequency response to below 50 Hz.

Our IDEOLOGY
An alchemy of MATERIALS, Tradition and acoustics
Our mission goes beyond making speakers. We dream of a crafts re-evolution to give back protagonism to traditional handcrafts in our industrialized world, building a bridge between ancestral knowledge and technology.
Mapu Speaker’s design and aesthetics are a tribute to the place where they come from, they are locally produced in traditional crafts(wo)mens workshops in rural areas, supporting the formation of a new generation of potters through heritage-led-innovation.
Their sound is developed by experts and passionate engineers from the origin of hi-fi acoustics, Denmark.
Mapu Speakers brings you the emotion and passion of the music & handcrafts to your home, with a product that combines past and present with a vision for the future.
